PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

As we near the end of summer,= I hope everyone has enjoyed the warm weather so far.

We had another wonderful picnic an= d had a nice turnout in spite of some conflicts and hot weather. Thank you especi= ally to Pete Albrigo for coordinating the event and Carole Marascalchi for doing= a really nice job with the children’s activities.

Our annual benefit golf tournament= was also very successful. In spite of a morning downpour, we were able to adjus= t. It turned out to be a blessing as over 80 golfers participated and we raised $600 for Exceptional Family Resources.&nbs= p; Special thanks to John Cregg, Mike Addabbo and Fred Scaia for running the tournament and to Chuck DaVia helping with donations.=

Although we have taken a little br= eak from our normal activities, we are ready to resume in September when we beg= in our polenta dinners again. As a warm-up, we will again be making polenta carbonera for the field days, so stop by and try some. There will be servin= gs all three nights of August 11, 12 and 13 at Pasta’s tent.<= /span>

Speaking of polenta, I would= like to continue to recognize some of our members for their very appreciated contributions to our club – the polenta makers. Reno Rudari has headed the group for several years and has a great crew. You’ll recognize the names: Giustino Capella, Rudy Capella, John L. Maestri, Chris Maestri, Ron Maestri (decided he’d have more fun being married in Arizona), Joe Chemotti, Frank Balduzzi, Ferm Castellini, Mark Zoanetti and Franco Franceschetti. Some of these masters of the trisa are getting up in age and will be phasing out over the next year. Please be sure to stop by and thank them this year some time.

On that note, we will be having a = very full polenta dinner schedule this year – not only because we enjoy ha= ving the dinners, but because they are an essential source of revenue.  Thank you to all those who attend = and to those who work to make them happen.  We are always looking for volunteers, so call the Club if you are interested.

Finally, personally and on behalf = of the Board and all our members, I would like to acknowledge and thank our club manager, Bill Phillips. He has been a very dedicated and valuable member of= the club and has volunteered his time well beyond the manager duties.  As you may have heard, he is curre= ntly battling cancer and has stepped down as club manager for several related reasons, however, he plans to remain active with us and we welcome his continued involvement. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. <= /o:p>

AUXILIARY PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Dear Auxiliary Member= s,

We are in the process= of planning for Fall and I hope everyone is as excited about it as I am! I wou= ld like to thank Merilee Palerino, Dora Capella, and their committee for the wonderful job they did organizing the May Banquet at Twin Trees Too. What an enjoyable evening! It was nice that Marguerite could bring relatives visiti= ng from Italy and although we could not all chat with them, we were happy they could join= us!

Thanks to Lisa Campagna and = her committee on a job well done in getting the cookbooks organized and ready f= or sale…if you haven’t purchased yours yet, let us know as they are going fast!

Our July picnic was a big su= ccess - thank you to Theresa Albrigo for helping me with the children’s gam= es again this year. I think everyone had fun with the sack races, egg toss, wa= ter balloon toss, and winning prizes, before the brief rain shower set in! The = face and arm paintings showed us again what talent the kids have!

We will be continuing = with the cooking sessions soon, so watch for the dates and be sure to join us. T= hey are a lot of fun and everyone gets a chance to learn a recipe and have a taste…there’s usually enough to take home too!

Again, a big thank you to al= l of the ladies who help throughout the year to make our events successful! If anyone is interested in adding a loved one’s name to our Ladies Auxil= iary Memorial Plaque, please contact me at 672-3450, and please, do not hesitate= to contact me with any suggestions, questions, or concerns you may have regard= ing the Auxiliary and events. I love hearing from our members, and of course, I look forward to seeing everyone at our dinner and meeting on September 7th at 6pm – remember, you will be getting a call for the dinner, so be s= ure to let us know if you are coming! See you at the Club!!

Carole Marascalchi - President

News and Updates:

Club Manager Position

Due to Bill Phillips’ resignation, the position of club manager is now op= en. If anyone is interested in applying for the position, please call me, Jerry= Albrigo or Joe Chemotti. Our intent is to interview interested candidates and compl= ete the selection process in September. We are looking for someone who has some financial ability (to handle cash, balance daily transactions, make deposit= s, etc.), can manage limited staff, order supplies, and importantly, work well with our members and represent our club well to members, guests and custome= rs. Hours are flexible and will vary, but some time during the day on week days should be expected (deliveries, etc.). We are hopeful and expect that there= are qualified and interested members that can fill the job without having to lo= ok outside our membership.
