PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

As this is our f= irst Stella Alpina of the year, I wanted to take some time to both reflect on the past year and think ahead for the upcoming year. 2004 was a time for both celebration and sorrow.

On the up side, we completed our 75= th year as a Trentino club and, thanks to the support from a dedicated committ= ee and over 300 attendees, were able to conclude the anniversary year with a tremendous dinner dance in October. It was a highlight of the many get-togethers that we enjoy as a club. We had more polenta dinners than ever before, another successful picnic, continuation of the Friday night golf and cards leagues, and several other dinners and get-togethers. If you didnR= 17;t attend any, you missed out. I’m also happy to report that we were abl= e to operate for 2004 basically on budget thanks to our many volunteers and supporters.

On a sad note th= ough, several of our members have passed on.&nbs= p; Most recently, we unfortunately lost Bob Foresti, who was a fixture = at the Club and invaluable with building maintenance, and George Bome, who was= out oldest male Trentino member. All of our deceased members will be missed but never forgotten. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

At our annual meeting, we ex= tended our recent tradition by honoring three of our longest standing members: Ern= ie Filosi, John B. Nicolini and Dick Togni. All three have been members since = the 1930’s. Congratulations.

The greatest ass= et our club has is its membership.  Speaking for our Board, it’s a real pleasure serving when there are so many dedicated people giving of their time and talents.  I thought I would use our newslett= er as an opportunity to give some well-deserved credits to different groups.  With this edition, I would like to= recognize “the calling committee” for our polenta dinners.  Formal recognition is long overdue, however those involved in our polenta dinners know how vital they have been= to the success of our dinners and therefore to our Club.  They work behind the scenes and un= less you receive a call from them, might never know who they are, but they are a= s essential as the polenta itself.  Withou= t them we’d have the party that no one came to.  Therefore, may I extend a sincere = thank you to Enis Foresti, who chairs the group, Minnie Artini, Jean Balduzzi, Charlotte Tarolli, Irene Baldini and Josephine Fragnito.<= /p>

AUXILIARY PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Dear Auxiliary Member= s, with the holiday rush behind us we can relax and look forward to all that the New Year brings, but not before we remember and thank our committees for all th= eir work.  There were 34 happy boy= s and girls at our children’s Christmas Party, each enjoyed games, face painting by Nicole Sagarella, food and special gifts from Santa.  From Megablox to dolls to kitchen = sets to racetracks to power tools, I think everyone was pleased with Santa’= ;s choices for them. Roseann Canastrare and her committee out did themselves a= gain this year, keep it up ladies!  The Auxiliary Christmas party was also a success.  Thank you to Christine Goodman and= her committee for a job well done. In case you didn't know, the committee made = the delicious cookies in the baskets!  Hopefully, when we use the recipes we received as favors, they’= ;ll come out just as good!  Speaki= ng of cookies, don't forget the upcoming cooking lessons that are being arranged = by Lisa Campagna, and keep watching for La Cucina Alpina, the 3rd printing of our cookbook.  The committee for the May banquet has been hard at work making arrangements so = send in your reservation and mark your calendars.  Our good wishes go out to all of o= ur members who cannot make it to our meetings and to all of those who are not feeling well.  We hope you are= doing better every day.  To all you snowbirds, be safe and come home soon!&nbs= p; I look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting on February 2<= sup>nd at 7pm.  See you at the Club!!=

Carole Marascalchi
